W ORLD M USIC R ADIO In Trouble?

wmrThose who -like me- have been listening on Short Wave in the past may still remember this station. I myself still must have some tape-recordings from the late 70's. Anyway, those who have pleasant memories may be glad, because the station is back on Short Wave, every saturday and sunday between 1800 and 2200 UTC on 6290 and 3345 kHz. Reception on 6290 kHz is very good here in the Netherlands, and up to now reception on 3345 kHz has always been acceptable, especially later in the evening. For the past two weeks World Music Radio has not been on the air on their normal broadcasting hours. Their WWW-site says they intend to be back on November 1, 1997.

Let's hope they will be back then, because their sound is quite special on the Short-Wave bands.
You can no doubt still contact them on their e-mail address wmr@cybernet.dk and their web-site is still available for you to find out more about them, at http://www.wmr.dk. On their site they also have some of their jingles, both in RealAudio and in the WAV-format.

According to the latest information on World Music Radio's WWW-site, they hope to be able to return at some time in the course of 1998. Let's hope they'll succeed. I will of course let you know the moment I have additional news. It now seems, as I have understood from the WMR-people, that the prospects for a return of World Music Radio look very grim, unless they might as yet find people who in one way or another are willing to invest money in this project...
